Lover’s Discourse (2010)

Starting from the French philosopher Jean-Luc Nancy’s theories about being-in-common and the dynamics of self-reflection coexisting in a web of relations, this work shows the fundamental importance of reciprocity in order to evolve the community’s awareness.

Gay, lesbian, and straight lovers who answered to the flyers left in cafès, bars, laundromats in Williamsburg, Brooklyn were invited to the artist’s studio for a video interview. The final result is a collection of portraits of different relationships, characters, and narratives, exploring all the changes and correspondences experienced inside the identity of a couple.
